We take it seriously when we tell you and all survivors that “YOU ARE NOT ALONE.” We are having a rally to connect survivors and to support to each other.
We are having a rally for survivors of sexual abuse in front of the New York County Supreme Court Courthouse located at 60 Centre Street, New York, New York 10007 on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 11:00 am. This is the first day of the one-year window to file a civil action under the NY Child Victims Act. This rally is to support all survivors of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy and to demand that the Archdiocese of New York, Diocese of Brooklyn and the Diocese of Rockville Centre provide help to those who have been injured. Survivor Lexington Filipowski will speak after he files his lawsuit under the new New York Child Victims Act. We will also give participants an opportunity to speak if they wish. No one will be identified by name unless they wish to be identified. We plan to have participants hold signs that describe how they have been hurt by child sexual abuse by a clergy member. We will provide the markers and the poster board for you to personalize your sign. It is possible that media will cover the event. We will ask the media to honor participants’ wishes to remain anonymous. Please come, even if you do not wish to be photographed. You will be able to remain off camera and still support others.
PLEASE COME!!! This is an opportunity for us to connect and collectively support all survivors of sexual abuse. Please RSVP by replying to this email so that we have plenty of posters and markers! I look forward to seeing you!
