Notes:
In a letter dated February 2008 to the Capuchins New York provincialate, a man accused Nowak of abusing him from 1961 to 1966 while he was a student at St. Mary’s Seminary in Glenclyffe, New York. After a talk with his provincial, Nowak e-mailed and called the man with an apology.
The man disclosed the abuse to Fr. Regis Armstrong in the mid-1970s, but believed nothing was done. Fr. Armstrong stated that he had no recollection of the disclosure.
Nowak’s faculties to engage in public ministry were permanently removed in 2004.
