Notes: Kiarie (also spelled Kiare in some articles) was arrested in June 2002 on charges of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy during a trip to Rockaway Beach on Father’s Day. After the boy returned home, he told his mother what happened.
Kiarie, a visiting priest from Kenya, was in New York to raise money for Kenya churches. He met the boy and his mother at Blessed Virgin Mary Help of Christians Church in Woodside. A jury found him not guilty in 2003. Kiarie said he planned to return to Kenya as soon as possible.
