Diocese: Archdiocese of New York
Notes:
Pintado Herrera is a priest from Educador who worked in the New York Archdiocese.
In 1997, Pintado assisted at Holy Cross on 42nd St. in Manhattan until he was removed due to allegations of financial impropriety regarding charity donations. By that time, Pintado Herrera reported that he had been celebrating Mass in several Queens and Manhattan neighborhoods for the past two years.
The New York Archdiocese assigned Pintado as Assistant Pastor at St. Joan of Arc Church in the Bronx. He worked there for 10 months and resigned in January 2001, citing poor health.
Pintado reappeared at Good Shepherd Church in Inwood, where he had reportedly celebrated Mass part-time for 3 years. In September 2002, Pintado was charged with third-degree sexual abuse of a choir boy. He was accused of touching the boy inappropriately from June 2002 to September 2002 with the abuse escalating from hugs to fondling the boy’s genitals in the church rectory. Pintado pled guilty of endangering the welfare of a child in June 2003 and was sentenced to 5 days of community service.
